Health eVillages: Bridging Healthcare Gaps Globally with Innovative Mobile Solutions
Created in 2011 by Donato Tramuto and now a program of the TramutoPorter Foundation, Health eVillages aims to address the fact that within our lifetimes, one billion people will go to their graves without access to healthcare workers, medication, clean water, or affordable health facilities.
Health eVillages collaborates to advance healthcare and educational access, as well as improving the quality of care by providing state-of-the-art mobile health technology, including medical reference and clinical decision support tools, as well as other community-focused resources, to medical, public health, and educational professionals serving the world’s most vulnerable populations.
Initially, Health eVillages launched pilot programs in Kenya, India, Uganda, and Haiti. The impact was immediately realized as initial reports from doctors and nurses showed they were using the technology and medical apps to make informed, life-saving decisions.
With the support of the TramutoPorter Foundation, Healthways, Tivity Health, Sharecare, Linkwell Health, Isobar, and Tidesmart Health, Health eVillages has since expanded into eleven countries and deployed 585+ content-enabled mobile devices worldwide.
Healthcare and education is a right for every single person, rich or poor… At Health eVillages, we aren’t here to delay death, we are here to extend life.
~Donato Tramuto, Founder of Health eVillages
We believe that by delivering technology, facilitating access, and empowering healthcare providers, we can help heal the villages and move the needle on global healthcare.
Within each of our partner locations, we see a wide range of successful outcomes. These achievements can be as basic as improving general health knowledge of providers and community members, but they can also have a larger impact. Our sites have reported cultural shifts, whereby members of the community who previously had no interest in educational sessions are actively seeking out opportunities to learn about health and health services.
